Walks

If you are a refugee or an asylum seeker and would like to come on a walk in the countryside, please read the information in this section of the website for dates of all walks, (find more details of the next walk           ).

You need to be fit and healthy and like walking because we will walk for about 2 - 3 hours.  You need to be able to speak and understand English to a reasonable level or come with someone who can translate.

Places are limited on the walks so please register if you want to come.

to download the registration form.  You need to complete it and return it to: naomi.cohen@nrcentre.org.uk.

We can provide waterproof jackets if it rains but you need to take warm clothes (even if it is hot because the weather can change more quickly in the countryside).  We also have a small number of shoes to walk in if you do not have any suitable shoes but you must let us know in advance if you think you will need to borrow shoes.

Walks will take place on the first Saturday of every month from June to October, in different areas of the Peak District.  (The September walk is women only.)

  • 6th June: walk around Hathersage looking at the landscape to learn about the past

  • 4th July: walk in the area of Ladybower Reservoir

  • 1st August: walk around Longshaw learning about birds in the UK countryside

  • 5th September: women only walk around Longshaw

  • 3rd October: walk in Grindleford area, learning about the environment
